If you are planning to buy a home, there are some things your shoudl find out about your realtor first. Your realtor is guiding you with an important financial decision, so you need to be sure that the decision is in your best interest. Here are a few suggestion about what to find out:
How long has your real estate agent been selling homes, and are they licensed? – While many newer realtors will be just as proficient at selling homes as their more experienced counterparts, you may want to consider those that have been selling for a longer time as they tend to move more quickly and can help you focus your efforts in a further effectual manner.
Via what avenues can you get in touch with your realtor? – Find a realtor that can be reached in a number of ways in case you have questions or interests – email, phone, cell phone, office, fax, etc. Since realtors are often running from place to place, you need to be able to get into contact with them when it's necessary.
Exactly who does the realtor plan to represent? – Make sure you are looking for a realtor that is going to stand for you in order to get the best insight into the process. When you look at realtors that represent sellers, they are inclined to push you in certain directions instead of watching for your needs.
What are the costs that your realtor charges? – Be sure to get any quoted prices in writing prior to working with a realtor. This will help to ensure you are only paying for what you agreed to in the process, rather than having to pay fees that you do not identify after the sale is done.
What timeframe does your realtor use to find homes for clients? – Finding out the response to this question is often a good way to discover the efficiency of the realtor. While some clients are exacting and call for more of the realtor's time, a high-grade realtor should be able to listen to your requisites and then match you quickly with a high-grade fit.
Does the realtor show only their listings? – Again, this is a question that will show you how objective they will be with your real estate needs. You should be able to see a wide range of properties that fit your specifications, and the realtor shoudl be willing to show you homes from a multi-list service.
When does the realtor usually show homes, and will this realtor show homes at other times? – Your schedules are going to have to mesh in order to see the homes you like when you have the time.
Taking the time to check into this list will save you a lot of headaches and aggrevation down the road!
